The party has been divided into two camps, with some officials from Tranzoia and Bungoma counties endorsing Tongeren MP John Murumbi, while others support Kwanza MP Ferdinand Wanyonyi for the Secretary-General position.

The division has caused a heated debate among party members, with Vice Treasurer and nominated member of Tranzoia County Assembly, Margaret Wanjala, expressing her strong support for Hon. John Murumbi.

Sisi ata karibu tukufe iyo chama ikiwa. Mnajua watu wote wanajua vile maneno yalienda na yeye kutoa mheshimiwa Eseli kukuwa raisi, sasa tukaona anaweza kushikilia iyo kiti kama Mheshimiwa Chris Wamalwa ameiwacha.

She explained that the decision was based on his ability to lead the party and his loyalty to Ford Kenya since he has been a member for a long time.

However, some party members in the opposing camp have dismissed Wanjala’s opinion, insisting that Hon. Ferdinand Wanyonyi is the best fit for the position.

They argue that he has always been a loyal party member and has never defected to any other political party since he joined Ford Kenya in 1992.

The dispute over the Secretary-General position has heightened since Tranzoia residents demanded that Hon. John Murumbi be given the position since Tranzoia is where the Ford Kenya party was started.

They have urged their Bungoma counterparts to support their cause and refrain from contesting for the position.

The race to replace Chris Wamalwa has stirred up different opinions among Ford Kenya members, making it challenging to reach a consensus.

It is yet to be seen how the party will resolve the disagreement and choose the ideal candidate to fill the position. What is your opinion on this? Feel free to comment below.
