Azimio Protests Under Threat from Hired Goons, Claims Raila Odinga
Raila Odinga, the leader of the Azimio movement, has cautioned his supporters against a government plot to disrupt their upcoming protests.
In a letter dated 26th March, Odinga warned of plans by Deputy President Rigathi Gathagua to infiltrate their demonstration with hired goons. According to Odinga, the hired youths are set to blend in with the Azimio protesters and cause chaos.

Odinga further claimed that the hired goons were not only in Nairobi but also in Western and Nyanza regions, disguised as Azimio supporters.
As a result, Odinga warned his top politicians to be vigilant during the protests to avoid being targeted by the unruly youths.

In the letter, Odinga also disclosed that public service vehicles had been used to transport young people to various locations in Nairobi, including Jogoo Road, Kibra, Dandora, Hyrum, Muthurwa, Kayole, Kariobangi, Korogocho, Mlango Kubwa, Githurai 44, and Githuri 45.

Odinga alleged that their goal was to assassinate prominent Azimio members in Nairobi, such as Babu Owino, a member of parliament for Embakasi East, Opiyo Wandayi, a senator from Nairobi, Edwin Sifuna, and Jeremiah Kioni, a Jubilee leader.
However, both Interior Security Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki and Police Inspector General (IG) Japhet Koome have declared the planned demonstrations unlawful.
The IG warned that those planning to cause violence or carry offensive weapons would face the music.
But despite Odinga’s claims, Rigathi Gachagua and his staff are yet to respond to the allegations.
The situation is still tense, with supporters of Azimio expected to take to the streets today. Everyone involved must maintain calm and avoid violence, as any disruption could exacerbate the situation.
